Hyoungshin Park received her Bachelor (1990) and Master (1992) degrees in Biology from the Chungnam National University in Korea and received the second Master (1995) degree and Ph.D. (1998) degree in Biology from the Arizona State University. She did her postdoctoral studies in the University of Tuebingen in Germany (2000) and in the Australian National University in Australia (2001). In 2001, she joined MIT and involved in various projects such as a bioreactor development for NASA International Space Station, cardiac tissue engineering, bone and cartilage tissue engineering using various biomaterials. She joined the MGH Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation in 2006.
Dr. Park is an Assistant Biomedical Engineer at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a research affiliate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research goal is to augment diseased vocal folds and restore its function by using fat autograft, adipose derived stem cells and biomaterials in animal model system. Her research interests are adult stem cell biology to investigate cell fate and adipose tissue engineering for tissue augmentation.
