Research Interests

Our main research interest focuses on exploring new spectroscopic tools that have the capability to provide new insight into biological processes and a deeper understanding of the development of diseases at a molecular level, using spectroscopic methods that can provide a high degree of molecular structural information, such as Raman scattering. We combine modern laser spectroscopy with the exciting optical properties of metal nanostructures and perform spectroscopy in local optical fields of gold and silver nanoparticles. This plasmonics approach opens up the potential for molecular and chemical probing of biological structures and biomedically relevant molecules at the nanoscale and with single molecule sensitivity.
