Collaborative Center for X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism
An international consortium of scientists, physicians and advocates working to advance research and clinical care for people with XDP.
The Collaborative Center for X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism (XDP), based at Massachusetts General Hospital, brings together an international team of experts to advance our understanding and ability to treat this debilitating neurodegenerative disease.
Meet Our Team
Our mission is to identify the genetic substrates and cellular mechanisms that contribute to XDP pathogenesis, to characterize the natural history and prevalence of XDP and to improve the delivery of care to XDP patients by expanding clinical resources and training.
X-linked dystonia parkinsonism (XDP) is an adult-onset, genetic movement disorder that almost entirely affects males who descend from the island of Panay in the Philippines.
We are pleased to announce a new service for XDP patients and their families. The Neurogenetics DNA Diagnostic Laboratory at MGH now offers clinical genetic testing for XDP/DYT3. MGH is the only site in the United States to provide clinical genetic testing for multiple markers specifiC to XDP (DYT3). Your physician may contact 617-726-5721 or visit the Neurogenetics DNA lab website to order testing.
