Drama Specialist
Job Description
The Drama Specialist leads therapeutically-based dramatic arts activities, such as improv, theater games, puppetry, and more. Our drama activities aim to provide fun and to facilitate the development of children's social skills, communication skills, self-esteem, and interest in the arts. Summer drama sessions are about 45 minutes each, with approximately 6 children per session who are supported by their group leaders. The Drama Specialist:
- Ensures that each group has a well-designed program plan addressing specific goals.
- Leads drama groups 1-2 times per week for each camper group.
- Works closely with camp leadership and group staff to identify and support children's strengths, and reinforce social goals.
- Works at both of YouthCare's Summer Camp sites in Charlestown and Westwood.
This is a 40 hour per week paid position for 8 weeks, including orientation and training. Part-time option might be negotiable.
Qualifications
- Experience leading groups of children in expressive arts activities.
- Enrolled in, or graduate of, Bachelor or Master's degree in related field, such as expressive arts, social work, or special education.
- Curriculum design experience.
- Desire to help children/youth succeed and have fun!
- Desire and ability to work with children in outdoor settings.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.

Art Specialist
Job Description
The Art Specialist leads well-structured and therapeutically-based arts activities. These activities aim to facilitate the development of children's social skills, communication skills, self-esteem, and interest in the arts within a fun environment. The Art Specialist leads sessions of about 45 minutes, each with a group of about 6 children grouped by similar age, with the support of group staff. The Art Specialist:
- Ensures that each group has a well-designed program plan with specific goals.
- Leads activity groups 1-2 times per week for each camper group.
- Works closely with leadership staff and group staff to identify and support children's strengths and reinforce social goals.

Recreation Specialist
Job Description
The Recreation Specialist leads well-structured active games, such as sports, adventure games, team-building games, adaptive physical education activities, and more. These activities aim to: facilitate the development of children's social skills, game-specific skills, and self-esteem within a fun environment, and aim to encourage physical activity. The Recreation Specialist leads sessions of about 45 minutes, each with a group of about 6 children grouped by similar age, with the support of group staff. The Recreation Specialist:
- Ensures that each group has a well-designed program plan with specific goals.
- Leads activity groups 1-2 times per week for each camper group.
- Works closely with leadership staff and group staff to identify and support children's strengths and reinforce social goals.
This is a 40 hour per week paid position for 8 weeks, including orientation and training. The position could be based in Westwood, or in both Charlestown and Westwood. Part-time option might be negotiable.
Qualifications
- Experience leading groups of children in active activities.
- Enrolled in, or graduate of, Bachelor or Master's degree in related field, such as recreational therapy, physical education, physical therapy, social work, or special education.
- Curriculum design experience.
- Desire to help children/youth succeed and have fun!
- Desire and ability to work with children in outdoor settings.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
