Overview
The Massachusetts General Hospital Freedom Clinic, launched in April 2015, is a unique health care clinic for victims and survivors of human trafficking in the Boston area. Exclusively designed to care for trafficked persons, the Freedom Clinic is a cornerstone program of the Human Trafficking Initiative in the Center for Social Justice and Health Equity at Massachusetts General Hospital established in 2008.
The Freedom Clinic offers free primary and preventative care for victims and survivors of human trafficking ages 13 years and older. The clinic was thoughtfully designed to offer specialized services in a safe, non-judgmental, LGBTQ-friendly and compassionate setting.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, holistic, trauma-informed care to trafficking victims and to partner with local and regional social service providers to assist survivors in rebuilding their lives. The Mass General Freedom Clinic offers mental health and case management services and refers patients to trusted sub-specialists when specialized care is required, including substance use disorder services. Its concierge-like services aim to increase health and well-being, while also promoting self-care patient behaviors.
We offer the following services:
- Treatment for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
- Annual physical examinations
- Vaccinations
- Medical clearance evaluations
- Infectious disease testing and treatment (including STIs and HIV)
- Mental health services
- Case management services
