In General: 2011 HMS Mentoring Awards and Patricia Donahoe, MD

Four MGH staff members will be honored June 7 with 2010-2011 Mentoring Awards from the HMS Office for Diversity and Community Partnership. Thomas J. Brady, MD, vice chair of Radiology Research, will receive the William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award. Carlos A. Camargo Jr., MD, DrPH, of the Department of Emergency Medicine, and Karen A. Kuhlthau, PhD, of the MassGeneral Hospital for Children Center for Child and Adolescent Health Policy, will be recognized with the A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award. Nabeel Bardeesy, PhD, of the Center for Cancer Research, will receive the Young Mentor Award.


Patricia Donahoe, MD, chief emerita of Pediatric Surgical Services and director of the Pediatric Surgical Research Laboratories at  MassGeneral Hospital for Children, has been selected to receive the 2012 Society of University Surgeons Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes surgeons who have had a sustained career in academic surgery and made outstanding contributions to the surgical sciences. The award ceremony will take place at the Academic Surgical Congress Meeting in February 2012.
