Red Sox owner John Henry and his wife, Linda Pizzuti Henry, hosted a dinner reception Sept. 15 in celebration of philanthropy at the MGH and the success of the $1.5 billion Campaign for the Third Century of MGH Medicine, which ends in 2013. The Henrys are honorary co-chairs of the campaign, believed to be the largest-ever such initiative in New England. Approximately $1.4 billion – 94 percent of the total goal – has been raised thus far.

More than 400 people attended the evening reception, including MGH donors, trustees, leadership and staff. Remarks were given by the Henrys as well as Cathy Minehan, chair of the Board of Trustees, James Cash, MD, honorary trustee, Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president, and Henri Termeer, trustee, and his wife, Belinda Termeer, a director on the Cancer Center Leadership Council. The event featured the presentation of a video about the world-class research and care the MGH provides, and Broadway actress Mary Faber, who performed a song as a token of thanks to her surgeon, Steven Zeitels, MD, chief of the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation.
