On October 24-25, 2016, the Orthopaedic Spine Center at Massachusetts General Hospital hosted the 6th Annual International Spine Surgery Symposium at the Seport Hotel.
The joint symposium between MGH and the Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) Orthopaedic Department was created to give surgeons, treating patients with complex spinal diseases, a unique opportunity to interact with global colleagues. It has blossomed into a strong relationship providing spine surgeons and fellows the opportunity to observe clinical activities, and conduct research. This year's symposium was the largest attended and included local and national spine surgery experts.
History of the Symposium:
In recognition of the important relationship between surgeons regardless of language or nationality involved in the care of complex spinal pathologies, Drs. Kirkham Wood and Zhongqiang Chen organized the original summit held in Beijing, China. This annual meeting has continued and since alternated every year between Beijing, China and Boston, Massachusetts.
