Book Release - Mirror Touch by Joel Salinas

Joel Salinas, MD will release Mirror Touch, a book for general audiences published through HarperCollins. It is a collection of personal stories and patient profiles, including two chapters dedicated to women with neurologic diseases and the impact their condition has had on their lives and their families.

The book will be released April 18th and is available for preorder now at You are invited to the launch event, which will take place on Friday, April 21st, at 7pm at the Harvard Coop Bookstore across from the Harvard Square red line station.

Practice the power of relaxation in a community-wide experience that demonstrates stress reduction techniques to improve health and build resiliency. Herbert Benson, MD, a pioneer in Mind Body Medicine, and one of the first Western physicians to bring spirituality and healing into medicine, along with a team of experts from Mass General Hospital’s Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, will lead participants in a step-by-step approach to stress-busting techniques. We’ll also be joined by Project Uplift, a mental health and mindfulness awareness project which allows participants to “lift the world” by reducing stress and anxiety.

Alice Weaver Flaherty, MD, a Mass General neurologist, researcher and educator is best known for her award-winning book, The Midnight Disease, about the neural basis of creativity. Dr. Flaherty experiences hypergraphia, an overwhelming desire to write everything on her mind. She also experiences synesthesia, a sensory phenomenon in which stimulation in one sensory pathway leads to an automatic, involuntary stimulation in a second pathway.
