Celebrating the one hundred

SUPPORTING THE CANCER CENTER: From left, Daniel Haber, MD, PhD, director of the MGH Cancer Center; Kennedy; and Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president

MORE THAN 650 guests attended the MGH Cancer Center's annual fundraiser, the one hundred, held June 2 at the Westin Boston Waterfront. The event honored 100 groups and individuals, including physicians and caregivers, researchers, donors and volunteers, who have helped advance the fight against cancer.

One of the honorees was the late Senator Edward Kennedy. His son Ted Kennedy Jr., a cancer survivor and keynote speaker at the event, accepted the honor on his father's behalf.

Over the past three years, the event has raised more than $1.5 million to support the Cancer Center. Fundraising continues during the month of June with the "Charity in Bloom" program sponsored by Winston Flowers, which is donating 20 percent of retail sales from the MGH collection to the Cancer Center.
