Visiting Clerkship Program

The Visiting Clerkship Program (VCP), sponsored by the Minority Faculty Development Program at Harvard Medical School (HMS), is open to fourth-year and qualified third-year minority medical students. One-month clerkships are available at Mass General and other HMS-affiliated hospitals. The clerkship is intended to increase medical student awareness of opportunities in academic medicine and the number of national minority students applying to HMS-affiliated hospital training programs. To be placed at Mass General, you should indicate this as your first preference when applying to VCP.

Harvard Medical School Exchange Clerkship Program

The Harvard Medical School Exchange Clerkship Program is one of the largest visiting student programs in the country. Each year, the HMS Registrar’s Office places approximately 800 to 900 students from medical schools all over the world into clerkships taught at HMS-affiliated teaching hospitals. Its goal is to select students who are ready for the clinical experience.
