About Julie Gardner Mandel, PhD

Dr. Julie A. Gardner is a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Psychoanalyst - having trained at Massachusetts General Hospital (grad. 1994) and the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (grad. 2003).

Dr. Gardner has a private practice in Boston's Back Bay. In addition to a general psychotherapy practice consisting of men and women aged 16 - 65, presenting with Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Struggles, Adjustment Problems and Trauma Histories, Dr. Gardner Specializes in the Treatment of Eating Disorders.

Dr. Gardner conducts cognitive behavioral as well as psychodynamic individual and group psychotherapy.  One group is geared toward college and graduate school age students suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Compulsive Overeating. The second group is for more mature men and women in their 20s to 40s struggling with difficult life transitions, professional dissatisfaction, family or origin conflicts, and unsuccessful romantic relationships.

Dr. Gardner supervises psychiatry residents and psychology interns in group psychotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital's Adult Center for Group Psychotherapy and in the Department of Child Psychiatry.
