40th Annual Primary Care Pediatrics Conference

This course is designed for primary healthcare providers who provide service to infants, children and adolescents.

Subject matter will be presented to the entire group in didactic lecture, panel discussions and brief management problems, followed by question and answer periods. During some sessions, the course breaks into small seminars to explore areas of particular interest. The practice of general pediatrics requires a large knowledge base covering many areas of practice. Keeping up to date is a challenge. Using the yearly course evaluations, we determine the topic areas most needed by pediatricians. These generally include disciplines that are not well-taught during training. We aim to present state of-the-art information that pediatricians can incorporate into their daily practices.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate recent basic science and clinical advances in pediatrics.
  • Incorporate practice guidelines and published standards of care in the diagnosis and management of pediatric diseases, including but not limited to mental health, respiratory, neurological, and GI disease.
  • Evaluate traditional principles of care in light of recent scientifc advances in pediatrics.
  • Recognize and discuss different approaches to pediatric patient care.
