The Developmental Neuro-Pediatrics (DNP) Program at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children provides efficient and comprehensive assessments of children between 18 months and 6 years of age suspected of having developmental delays.

The DNP Program is comprised of a pediatric neurologist, pediatric neuropsychologist, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist. This multidisciplinary approach is particularly suitable for assessment of conditions such as global developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, and complex neurodevelopmental conditions, including genetic disorders and developmental delays associated with underlying medical diagnosis.

Children receiving a comprehensive evaluation from the DNP Program will benefit from:

    • A collaborative consultation process that integrates neurology, neuropsychology, and pediatric therapies (i.e., speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy)
    • Clear recommendations for treatment and therapeutic plans that are practical and include all services necessary for the care of young children with developmental delays
    • A team of experts with many combined years of experience working with young children with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families
    • A family feedback meeting at which time families meet directly with the entire team to ask questions and review findings and recommendations.

Additionally, the DNP Program team works closely with pediatricians to guide treatment planning and during this very critical period of early development.
