About the Clinic

About This Program

In collaboration with Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mass General for Children offers a combined Pediatric Head and Neck Clinic for patients with all head and neck tumors. Our team has special experience and expertise in treating chordoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and other soft tissue sarcomas, Ewing sarcoma, esthesioneuroblastoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and osteosarcoma, as well as retinoblastoma. This unique clinic offers coordinated, advanced subspecialty care by a multidisciplinary pediatric team that includes:

Our team also has a Pediatric Head and Neck Tumor Board that meets regularly to review complex cases, and to provide consultation and second opinions to other centers and patients/families. Having pioneered the clinical application of proton beam irradiation to a wide array of tumors, we have extensive experience in delivery of this highly focused treatment to tumors of the head and neck. As the center that originally developed the unique treatment modality of proton beam irradiation, we have the most pediatric experience of any center in its use, and vast experience caring for children with head and neck tumors who come from all over the world to receive this therapy. If you are interested in having a case reviewed by our team of multi-disciplinary subspecialists, please contact Dr. Alison Friedmann at 617-726-2737.
