About Richard Johnson, MD

Richard A. Johnson, MD is board certified in dermatology and internal medicine and is Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School.  He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.  Afterwards, he completed a Fellowship at the National Institutes for Health (NIH) and dermatology residency in the Harvard Combined Residency Program, where he later became Chief Resident. 
 
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Johnson is a lecturer, teacher, and author. Dr. Johnson has co-authored six editions of Fitzpatrick's Color Atlas and Synopsis of Clinical Dermatology, the Color Atlas and Synopsis of Pediatric Dermatology, and has authored numerous journal articles. He has served on several Editorial Boards for professional journals and is a member of several Academy Associations including, the American Academy of Dermatology, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the International AIDS Society.   Dr. Johnson's major research interests are skin disease related to HIV/AIDS, diabetes mellitus, skin cancer, skin disease in organ transplant recipients, and tropical skin disorders.
