About Christina Scirica, MD, MPH

Watch a video about my work

Dr. Scirica received her B.S. (summa cum laude) from Tufts University in 1995, her M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 2000, and her M.P.H. degree from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2005. She completed her pediatric residency and pulmonary fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). She served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2003-2004 and joined the Harvard Medical School faculty in 2008.

Dr. Scirica is dedicated to providing thoughtful and comprehensive care to children and adolescents of all ages and with a broad range of pulmonary conditions, who come to see her for symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and difficulty exercising. She is kind and approachable, and she knows first-hand what it is like to be a parent trying to help a child through an illness or personal challenge.

In addition to her comprehensive pulmonary background, Dr. Scirica has unique expertise in the evaluation and management of athletes at all levels of training and competition.  She is the founding Director of the MGH Athlete Pulmonary Performance Program, which aims to help youth athletes optimize their performance through the identification and treatment of respiratory and other factors that can get in the way of their goals.

Dr. Scirica thrives on sharing her knowledge and experience to help others.  She is a charismatic speaker who knows how to engage a variety of audiences - from children and parents, to schools and coaches, to health care professionals.  Dr. Scirica enjoys serving the larger community through partnerships with local organizations.  She currently serves as a Safety Liaison for the Eastern Mass Nordic Junior Ski Team, and she has collaborated with the Appalachian Mountain Club and WBUR to implement a program to promote outdoor physical activity among children and families in urban areas.

When she's not working or taking care of her kids, Dr. Scirica likes to stay active herself.  Her favorite activity is cross-country skiing, but in the absence of snow she can be found running, biking, hiking, strength training, or doing yoga.  She likes to keep life interesting and prevent injury by mixing up her workouts and trying new things - most recently, she tried (and liked) pilates by Zoom!
