About Suzanne Coopey, MD

Suzanne B. Coopey, MD was born and raised in Pennsylvania.  She specializes in breast surgery.  She attended college at the Pennsylvania State University and received her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine.  She did her general surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic and received her fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women's Hospital, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute Program.  She joined the MGH staff in 2011.   She currently serves as an Assistant in Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She also serves as a Part-Time Assistant Professor in Surgery for Harvard Medical School and as an Adjunct Instructor in Physician Assistant Studies for the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Dr. Coopey's research activities are focused on evaluating nipple sparing mastectomy techniques, patient selection, oncologic outcomes, and patient satisfaction.  Her work also includes clarifying the risk of breast cancer in patients with atypical breast lesions, and innovations in lumpectomy techniques to optimize re-excision rates and cosmetic outcomes.
