Dr. Quiroz is Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her research is focused on the study of age-related cognitive and brain changes that may predispose individuals to develop dementia later in life. Understanding the pathophysiology of neurodegeneration and identifying biomarkers for early diagnosis of dementia, especially as measured by neuropsychology , biofluids and neuroimaging, are fundamental goals of her research. Her current studies use multimodal neuroimaging (e.g. PET, sMRI, fMRI, DTI) and integrate genetics, molecular and neuropsychological data to characterize some of the earliest changes associated with increased risk for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
