Ajay Singla, MD, is a faculty member in the Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also holds lecturer appointment at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in urinary incontinence and voiding dysfunction in both men and women. His main area of interest is in post-prostatectomy incontinence, female stress urinary incontinence and vaginal prolapse. He is part of the Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders at Mass General.
Dr. Ajay Singla received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and Master of Surgery at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, India. Prior to moving to United States, he received his urology and surgical training in United Kingdom. He went on to complete a research fellowship in female urology and urodynamics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a clinical fellowship in neuro-urology and urodynamics at Emory University. After residency at Emory University in Atlanta in general surgery and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in urology, he began his academic medicine career at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He went on to become a full professor with the Department of Urology at Wayne State University in Detroit. He was appointed as Vice-Chair and Program Director at University of Toledo, OH prior to moving to Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Singla enjoys mentoring medical students and remains committed to urology residents’ education and training. He has been invited to multiple international congresses as a guest speaker and proctor in teaching urologists globally in the field of male incontinence. As a world renowned, board-certified clinician, Dr. Singla’s practice focuses on female urology and female pelvic floor reconstruction, including pelvic organ prolapse repair and male incontinence surgery. Dr Singla was honored with numerous awards. Dr. Singla remains involved in clinical research, and his research interest focuses on biological materials in sling surgery in both men and women. Dr. Singla has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His urology textbook Post-Prostatectomy Incontinence – Evaluation and Management is the first of its kind with contributions from world-renowned surgeons.

Dr Singla has been involved in clinical research in sling surgery in both men and women for stress urinary incontinence. His special interests included research in biological materials available for sling surgery. He has published extensively in male sling surgery and artificial sphincter for post-prostatectomy incontinence. He has been teaching and conducting workshops in both post-prostatectomy incontinence and biological materials for pelvic floor reconstruction. He has published one of a kind book on post-prostatectomy incontinence. He was also involved in NIH sponsored studies for Interstitial Cystitis.
