About Mohamed Hakim, DDS

Dr. Hakim graduated from New York University College of Dentistry among the top 5% of his class. He spent a year at the University of Connecticut Health Center as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery intern, where he gained experience in the management of third molars (wisdom teeth) with intravenous sedation and soft tissue trauma (lacerations and dog bites).

He then spent four years of residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in DC where he had a broad scope of training with a strong focus on orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), dental implants and bone grafting. He served as a chief resident from July 2017 to June 2018.

Currently he is spending two years, from July 2018 to June 2020, as an endoscopic maxillofacial surgery fellow, in the only recognized program in North America. At Mass General Hospital, he is under the mentorship of two incredible surgeons: Dr. Maria Troulis, the department chair and a pioneer in endoscopic/minimally invasive techniques, and Dr. Joseph McCain, the director of temporomandibular joint surgery and a world renowned expert on minimally invasive management of temporomandibular joints disease.

During his free time, he likes to spend time with his wife and son, play soccer and strum the guitar.

Dr. Hakim currently practices full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a junior faculty while serving as a fellow in the field of endoscopic surgery. He aspires to combine the skills he gained from his internship and residency training with the unique skills acquired from his fellowship to best serve his patients in a minimally invasive and well-rounded manner.
