About Usman Akram, DPM

Dr. Akram is passionate in his approach to Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and the advancement of lower extremity research.

Dr. Akram grew up in Wisconsin. He attended University of Wisconsin Madison for undergraduate studies. He received a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from Doctor William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Dr. Akram then completed a year-long Research Internship at Weil Foot & Ankle Institute in Chicago, IL. There, he developed an aptitude for outcome based research. He co-authored several publications, posters and presentations. Of note was his work on scarf bunionectomy, calcaneal scarf procedure for flat-foot, shockwave and Platelet-Rich Plasma mediated treatment for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendinitis.

Subsequently, Dr. Akram enrolled in a four-year Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency at one of New York’s largest community hospital systems: Saint Barnabas Hospital and Health System, Regional Trauma Center. There, Dr. Akram was been responsible for treating orthopaedic-related injuries, participating in busy wound-care service, and taking orthopaedic and podiatry surgery call, responding to Emergency Department consults for acute upper and lower extremity traumas and poly-traumas, as well as inpatient management at this facility. In his final year at Saint Barnabas, he served as a Foot and Ankle Surgery Chief Resident from 2017 - 2018.

He joined Massachusetts General Hospital Foot & Ankle Service as a staff Podiatric Surgeon in 2018. In his spare time Dr. Akram enjoys weight-lifting, cooking and staying engaged with the local community.
