The post-residency Clinical Fellowship is comprised of a one-year subspecialty training program provided by three laryngeal surgeons and four PhD staff scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital. Fellows participate in the clinical and research efforts as a member of a multidisciplinary team (voice scientists and speech pathologists) and receive training using state-of-the-art voice clinic and surgical-engineering laboratory facilities. The trainees will be provided with a comprehensive experience so that they can develop and lead other academic centers of excellence. Three candidates are accepted per year.
Candidates must have completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery by the time of their matriculation as a Clinical Fellow. If residency training was completed in a foreign country, the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Steps 1 – 3 must be successfully completed prior to applying for the fellowship.
The curriculum includes training in:

There will also be the opportunity for clinical collaboration with other members of the Mass General Thoracic Surgery service.

The emphasis of the year will be on clinical experience, but clinical fellows will be given opportunity to participate in additional clinical or basic-science laboratory research projects of their choosing. A separate, dedicated Research Fellowship in Laryngeal Surgery is also available.
