Pharmacy residents at Massachusetts General Hospital

Each year, the Mass General Department of Pharmacy recruits top candidates for the Pharmacy Residency Programs. Our residents come from all across the United States, and bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to the department and institution. Our clinical pharmacy preceptors are experts in their chosen specialty and are dedicated to the continual growth and development of our residents and programs.

Life in Boston

Boston

As a Mass General resident, you will be based in Boston, home of the Red Sox, excellent clam chowder, Dunkin’ Donuts, and some of the nation’s oldest historical attractions. Mass General’s main campus is located in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill, known for its characteristic brownstone buildings and brick sidewalks. Explore the boutiques and eateries on Charles Street and stroll along the Charles River Esplanade. Head over to Newbury Street for high-end shopping. For history buffs, the Freedom Trail takes you to the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s house and Faneuil Hall. Just across the Charles River is the city of Cambridge, home to world-renowned institutions Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Our residents participate in a variety of optional activities together outside of the hospital, including a local kickball league in Boston Common.

PGY-1 RESIDENTS

Dr. Simona Avramovska

Simona Avramovska

Dr. Avramovska is from Shelby Township, Michigan. She obtained both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Her practice interests include critical care. She enjoys hammocking on the Charles River Esplanade, salsa dancing, and running. Dr. Avramovska plans to pursue a PGY-2 in Critical Care after completion of the residency year.


Dr. Ashley Cubley

Ashley Cubley

Dr. Cubley is from Houston, Texas. She obtained both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Her practice interests include internal medicine, anticoagulation in special populations, and transitions of care. She enjoys cooking recipes from international cookbooks, listening to podcasts, and watching Texas football. Dr. Cubley plans to pursue a PGY-2 in Internal Medicine after completion of the residency year.

Dr. James Krenz

James Krenz

Dr. Krenz is from Lockport, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago. He graduated from Purdue University with his Doctor of Pharmacy. His practice interests include emergency medicine, toxicology, and critical care. He enjoys running, hiking, and exploring Boston. He also serves as the fearless leader and captain of the resident kickball team. Dr. Krenz plans to pursue a PGY-2 in Emergency Medicine after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Bianca Long-Fazio

Bianca Long-Fazio

Dr. Long-Fazio is from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She obtained both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University. Her practice interests include cardiology and pediatrics. She enjoys running, exploring Boston's best restaurants and spending time with her cat, George. Dr. Long-Fazio plans to pursue a PGY-2 in a specialty of her interest after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Jennifer Reinhard

Jennifer Reinhard

Dr. Reinhard is from Enfield, Connecticut. She obtained both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut. Her practice interests include infectious disease and internal medicine. She enjoys seeing live music, trying new foods, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Reinhard plans to pursue a PGY-2 in Infectious Disease after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Stephanie Seto

Stephanie Seto

Dr. Seto is from Reston, Virginia. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include critical care and emergency medicine. She enjoys spending time outdoors, music, and cooking. Dr. Seto plans to pursue a PGY-2 in her area of interest after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Emma Uchida

Emma Uchida

Dr. Uchida is from Washington, Pennsylvania. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Morehead State University and graduated from the University of Kentucky with both her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration. Her practice interests include hematology, oncology and infectious disease. She enjoys hiking, traveling, trying new foods, and reading. Dr. Uchida plans to pursue a PGY-2 in Oncology after completion of the residency year.

PGY1/2 HEALTH SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION PHARMACY RESIDENCY

Dr. Blake T. Barlow – PGY-1

Blake T. Barlow – PGY-1

Dr. Barlow is from Erlanger, Kentucky. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Xavier University and graduated from the University of Kentucky with both his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration. In addition, he will be completing a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration through the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. His practice interests include clinical management, medication safety, and expanding scopes of practice. He enjoys cooking, working on cars, backpacking, and camping. Dr. Barlow will be continuing as a PGY-2 in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership after the completion of the residency year.

Dr. Felicia Britt PGY-2

Felicia Britt – PGY-2

Dr. Britt is from Star, North Carolina. She obtained both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she is currently completing a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration through the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include ambulatory care service expansion, specialty pharmacy, and retail operations. She enjoys exploring Boston, running, and traveling. Dr. Britt plans to pursue a career in pharmacy administration at an academic medical center after completion of the residency year.

PGY2 RESIDENTS

Katherine Ciampa– PGY-2

Katherine Ciampa – Emergency Medicine

Dr. Ciampa is from Arlington, Virginia. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY-1 residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Her practice interests include emergency medicine, in particular toxicology, disaster response preparedness, and management of substance use disorders. She enjoys traveling, reading, trying new foods, and drinking lots of coffee. Dr. Ciampa plans to pursue a career as an emergency medicine clinical specialist at a large academic medical center with opportunities for teaching after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Lily Jia

Lily Jia – Oncology

Dr. Jia is from Midlothian, Virginia. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY-1 residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Her practice interests include hematology and oncology. She enjoys hiking, going to the gym, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Jia plans to pursue a career as a hematology/oncology clinical specialist at an academic medical center after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Kayla Joyal

Kayla Joyal – Transplant

Dr. Joyal is from Marshfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Northeastern University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY-1 residency at The University of California, San Francisco Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Her practice interests include management of infectious diseases in transplant patients, quality improvement research, and education. She enjoys participating in triathlons, traveling, and eating ice cream. Dr. Joyal plans to pursue a career as a transplant pharmacy specialist at a large academic medical center after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Amanda Rivera

Amanda Rivera – Critical Care

Dr. Rivera is from Dumont, New Jersey. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY-1 residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Her practice interests include shock, anticoagulation, and mechanical circulatory support. She enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and trying new restaurants with friends and family. Dr. Rivera plans to work as a Critical Care specialist at an academic medical center with opportunities for teaching and research after completion of the residency year.

Dr. Kelsey Williams

Kelsey Williams – Infectious Diseases

Dr. Williams is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and graduated from Mercer University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY-1 residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her practice interests include antimicrobial resistance, infections in immunocompromised hosts, antimicrobial stewardship, microbiology, and global health. She enjoys traveling, cooking, long walks with her pug Henry, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Williams plans to pursue a career as an Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacy Specialist after completion of the residency year.
