MGRI Graduate Student Division (GSD) Travel Awards

Would you like to get financial assistance to travel and advance in your career?
Recognizing that one of the obstacles to career advancement is the challenge of traveling while in graduate school and doing research, the MGH Graduate Student Division within the Center for Faculty Development established the GSD Travel Awards to help you travel. This award is intended to help defray registration, transportation and accommodation costs for PhD graduate students who are currently doing research at MGH while traveling to an academic/society meeting directly related to his/her academic advancement.
Application Guidelines
- The GSD Travel Awards provide funding to help make travel to an academic/society meeting directly related to his/her academic advancement possible.
- The applicant must have plans to attend a professional meeting within the timeframe stated in the official Call for Applications.
- Students must apply in advance of the trip requiring support and may not receive support for an event that has already occurred.
- To ensure full consideration for the award, the online application must be completed in its entirety, including submitting a copy of your CV and attestation form.
Please note: only completed applications will be considered. - These awards are specifically allocated to the conference stated on your application, and may not be transferred to another academic/society meeting if you opt not to travel to the specified conference.
Eligibility
- Ph.D. students enrolled in a US or International graduate school.
- Doing research and working at the Massachusetts General Hospital with an MGH Principal Investigator at the time of award application and conference travel.
- Trip must be an academic/society professional meeting for the purpose of advancing the student's career (e.g., presenting at an academic/society meeting [abstract/paper/poster] or receiving a society award/honor).
- To ensure full consideration for the award, the online application must be completed in its entirety, including submitting a copy of your CV and attestation form.
Please note: only completed applications will be considered. - Winner willing to present at a MGH graduate student seminar within two months from the return date.
Awards Expenditures
- Awards may be used for the following:
- Conference Registration Fees.
- Travel and transportation expenses for a student traveling to an approved academic conference.
- Reasonable hotel and/or other accommodation for a student.
- Reasonable expenses for meals during the conference.
- Awards may not be used for the following:
- Personal travel expenses for a student not related to an approved academic conference.
- Other expenses not associated with the travel expenditures listed above.
- Awardees must provide original receipts and/or invoices in order to receive payment under Mass General Brigham's policies, and must attest that these expenses were used in accordance with above.
- Amount of payment will not exceed $1000 of incurred expenses.
- Forms and documentation of expenses must be submitted within 30 days of the travel return date.

- Budget outlining how this award will be used (e.g., registration fees, transportation, and travel accommodation costs, etc).
- Outline of science talk to present to MGH graduate students.
