Explore Our Efforts

The Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Gun Violence Prevention is strongly involved in education of both health care providers and the community about firearm safety and violence prevention.


Our educational efforts have included:
  • Education of incoming residents and staff on firearm safety risk assessment for the following departments:
  • Development of firearm safety educational documents for the Mass General Primary Care Office Insight (PCOI) and Child & Adolescent Resource Materials (CARMA)
  • Aiding the development of educational documents on firearm violence prevention for the Massachusetts Medical Society
  • Education of providers and nursing on assessing firearm safety practices and educating patients on those practices
  • Grand Rounds and other lectures and seminars, including
    • Mass General Department of Medicine Grand Rounds
    • Mass General Division of General Internal Medicine Grand Rounds
    • Mass General Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds
    • Lowell General Hospital Medicine Grand Rounds
    • Mass General Medicine “Dilemmas & Difficult Cases” Ethics Case Conference
