Director of Breast Imaging delivers public service announcement

"Early detection saves lives," says Dr. Lehman

Connie Lehman, MD, PhD

This month, 93.7 WEEI Sports Radio began airing public service announcements that feature Mass General physicians talking about specific cancer awareness months and topics. The spots will air on Mondays during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick hours throughout the regular New England Patriots season.

As part of the project, Director of Breast Imaging Connie D. Lehman, MD, PhD, reminds listeners that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that early detection saves lives. In the 60-second spot, she encourages women to talk with their doctor about their breast cancer risk and when to be screened.

"As Mass General, every mammogram uses the most advanced technology - digital mammography with breast tomosynthesis," she says. "This 3D technology provides better cancer detection, fewer call backs and greater peace of mind."
