About Emily Sterling-Graves, LICSW

Emily is a Senior Clinical Social Worker in Geriatric Medicine. She is a passionate advocate for older adults, their families and caregivers. She enjoys her role as part of the interdisciplinary Geriatric Medicine team and is a faculty member within the Geriatrics Fellowship program. Emily brings her interest in grief and loss to her efforts to coordinate bereavement support for Geriatric Medicine patients and staff. She and the practice Medical Director continue to co-run a bi-weekly support group begun during the COVID pandemic to address social isolation among the clinics’ patients.

Emily received her Masters in Social Work from Simmons College in 1996. She initially worked in community mental health and eventually turned her energy and focus into working with older adults and adults with serious illness. She worked in hospital case management and palliative care, served as a SHINE counselor, and spent 5 years as a hospice social worker prior to joining the Geriatric Medicine Team in June 2019.
