Adult Primary Care/Internal Medicine

The internal medicine physicians and nurse practitioners at Massachusetts General Medical Group (MGMG) work with patients to coordinate all their health care needs, from routine physical exams to the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical problems and referrals to specialists. Our primary care providers also provide information about preventive medicine and wellness programs.

At MGMG, our on-site lab performs blood work and other routine tests, including EKG (electrocardiogram), Monday through Friday. If a primary care provider orders tests, patients can visit the lab by appointment during regular hours. Results are typically available through Partners Patient Gateway or by mail within two weeks. If test results show an abnormality, the patient's primary care provider will be notified immediately and will contact the patient by phone.

A primary care physician is responsible for arranging all medical care for their patient, including referrals to specialists. A patient requiring the care of a specialist should speak to his or her physician for the appropriate referral.

Prescription Refills

Current patients can request prescription refills online using Patient Gateway or by calling their physician’s phone number and choosing option 4 on the phone menu. Requests received on the automated prescription refill line between 8:30 am on Monday and noon on Friday will be completed within 24–48 hours.
