The Mass General Interdisciplinary Care for Amputees Network (ICAN) is a collaboration conceived by Mass General’s orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and rehabilitation specialists who are committed to provide outstanding, comprehensive, and innovative care to patients with complex limb disease, deformity or injury requiring amputation.
The need for amputation of an extremity can arise from traumatic injury, oncologic resection, or other systemic/medical disease. Successful recovery after extremity amputation requires an interdisciplinary effort to achieve outstanding outcomes. We aim to coordinate care between the multiple key services that an amputee will encounter at MGH to provide a patient-centered experience throughout their entire care pathway.
We are committed to provide outstanding, comprehensive, and innovative care to patients with complex limb disease, deformity, or injury requiring amputation.
We aim to be the leader in civilian amputation surgery and rehabilitation in the United States.
