Boston Health & Fitness Expo returns

Channel 7 NBC/CW 56 and Partners HealthCare plan to pack the Hynes Convention Center once again this summer as they come together to present the third annual Boston Health & Fitness Expo June 27 and 28 from 10 am to 5 pm with a mission to improve the health and wellness of the community.

At this year’s Expo, MGH will provide information on staying healthy at every age. Attendees will learn about possible health issues at each stage of adult life – from the 20s to the 60s and beyond. MGH will also host face-to-face “Health Talks” at its booth throughout the weekend. These open and welcoming discussions will provide the public access to the expertise of several MGH clinicians on topics ranging from heart health to cancer prevention.

For children, MassGeneral Hospital for Children staff will promote healthy and active lifestyles. A physical fitness expert will encourage the young people to start moving with group exercises and other physical activities to show them how much fun fitness – and good nutrition – can be.

In addition to the hospital’s exhibit, an “Ask the Doctor” booth will be staffed by clinicians from all of the Partners HealthCare-affiliated institutions. The following MGH physicians will speak on the Partners seminar stage:

Nandita Scott, MD, of the Heart Center, will discuss the myths of heart disease in women.

Sandy Tsao, MD, of Dermatology, will highlight the latest laser and cosmetic procedures for skin photorejuvination.

Steve Safren, PhD, of Psychiatry, will share information on depression related to chronic illness.

Tom Holovacs, MD, of Orthopædic Surgery, will share news about the latest treatments for injuries and offer tips for recreational athletes on how to avoid injury.

Last year, more than 74,000 people attended the Heath & Fitness Expo, which is free to the public.
