The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery divisions of Orthopaedic Trauma, Hip & Knee Replacement and Orthopaedic Oncology conduct collaborative research in patient-reported and clinical outcomes in orthopaedic surgery. We are actively recruiting undergraduates, medical students and health informatics students to work with our clinical research team. The main aim of the internship is to provide interns with a basic understanding about clinical research, primarily through providing practical experience. The internship offers exposure to the clinical, operative and academic aspects of Orthopedic Surgery. This position offers terrific opportunities to work with expert Orthopedic surgeons and contribute to innovative clinical research.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Initiates and maintains contact with study participants. Responsible for screening applicants, ensuring they meet appropriate criteria
  • Monitoring quality of study data and generating study progress reports
  • Contributing to study design and development
  • Conducting statistical analyses
  • Assisting in the preparation of research documents, presentations, manuscripts, and journal articles


This position requires someone with strong academic performance (minimum 3.5 GPA is preferred). Prior research and/or clinical experience and completion of undergraduate coursework in statistics and computer science is preferred. Robust written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills are all expected. Independence, self-motivation and a willingness to learn new skills are also vital for succeeding in this position. This will be a 6 month position. A stipend is available.
