About Christopher Fortier, PharmD, FASHP

Christopher Fortier, PharmD, FASHP, is the chief pharmacy officer at Massachusetts General Hospital. Chris joined Mass General at the end of 2013 and is responsible for all inpatient, clinical and outpatient pharmacy services across Mass General and leads a team of 400 outstanding pharmacy providers. He chairs the Chief Pharmacy Officers Council and leads system-wide pharmacy initiatives at the Mass General Brigham level. Chris also serves as the residency program director for the Mass General Health-System Pharmacy & Leadership Residency Program.

Chris has presented extensively and on the national and global levels including Japan, China and the Middle East. He has published numerous book chapters and in peer-reviewed journals and has been quoted by multiple media outlets including NBC Nightly News, Associated Press, The Washington Post, Bloomberg News and STAT News. 

Chris earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut and completed a PGY-1/PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center in Charleston, SC. He serves as a lecturer at Harvard Medical School and is an adjunct associate professor at the University of North Carolina, University of Connecticut, Northeastern University and MCPHS University. He is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and an active member of Vizient AMC Pharmacy Network, ASHP and the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacy.
