A photographic essay

REVEALING COMPASSION AND RESILIENCE: Gardner, left, shows a guest his work at the photo exhibition.

On Nov. 20, Steven Gardner, MD, MGH Kendall Fellow for Primary Care and physician at the MGH Beacon Hill Health Associates, hosted the opening of his photo exhibition "Compassion and Resilience" at the Gallery at Boston Private Bank at 10 Post Office Square. In his photography Gardner has captured poignant moments in which the human connection between doctors and their patients is revealed.

"A frozen image representing a single moment in time can sometimes show quite poignantly the feeling of one person reaching out to another," said Gardner. "My hope was to create a photographic essay exploring the duel graces of compassion and resilience in the staff and patients of the MGH."

In addition to the photo exhibit, Gardner gave a brief slideshow presentation highlighting the photo essays embracing the theme of compassionate care. The exhibit at the Gallery is on display most days from 9 am to 5 pm through Jan. 7. To confirm the gallery is open, call (617) 912-1900.
