Scientists grow artificial human ear in laboratory

Massachusetts General Hospital investigator Cathryn Sundback, ScD, and her team have moved a step closer to growing a complete human ear from a patient's cells. Through tissue engineering, Mass General researchers have grown a human-like ear from animal tissue with a technique that one day may be used to help people with missing or deformed outer ears.
