Ken is originally from western Pennsylvania but has been living and working in Massachusetts for many years.  He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Boston University where he did research in speech processing with a focus on pattern recognition. For over ten years he has been doing cancer research as a computational biologist.  A lot of his computational biology work has been on finding signatures in gene expression data and analyzing data from gene expression based high-throughput chemical screens.  He enjoys working with big data sets (e.g., NGS RNA-Seq and Chip-Seq) especially when it involves fusing together different types of data from different platforms and modeling interactions among data types.  When he is not working, Ken can often be seen running or biking around the greater Boston area.
