About Gregory Waryasz, MD
Gregory Waryasz, MD, CSCS is triple fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in injuries and conditions of the foot and ankle. Dr. Waryasz’s goal is to improve the quality of life of his patients by integrating his unique background in sports medicine, strength and conditioning and foot/ankle training. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages, with a variety of activity levels.
Dr. Waryasz received his BS in Biology at Boston College, where he apprenticed as a strength and conditioning coach for all the athletic teams. He attended medical school at Tufts University and completed his residency training in Orthopaedic surgery at Brown University. After his residency, Dr. Waryasz completed three years of fellowship training. Dr. Waryasz spent his first year of training focusing on Orthopaedic trauma at Brown University, where he cared for patients of all ages with a variety of fractures. While at Brown, Dr. Waryasz served as a team physician, providing sideline coverage for Brown Athletics, the Providence Bruins and USA Gymnastics. After leaving Brown, Dr. Waryasz completed two more years of training at Mass General – the first in Sports Medicine and the second in Foot and Ankle Surgery. While at Mass General, Dr. Waryasz was part of the medical staff for several professional sports teams, including the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and New England Revolution. Dr. Waryasz currently is working with several professional soccer players, as well as the Boston Renegades Beep Baseball team, and he serves as a consultant for several collegiate athletic programs.
Dr. Waryasz’s clinical interests are sports medicine conditions, fracture care, and reconstruction surgery of the foot and ankle. He also has a clinical interest in injuries related to bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, and high intensity training (HIIT, HIPT, CrossFit, etc).
Dr. Waryasz has been a personal trainer for more than 15 years, is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and enjoys consulting with recreational, collegiate and professional athletes. He is an active researcher with more than 40 peer reviewed publications, and he serves on the awards committee for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He is a current article reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning Journal, and the Journal of Physical Activity and Health.

Research
Dr. Waryasz is an active researcher in both orthopaedic surgery and strength and conditioning. He has extensively published in foot and ankle surgery, orthopaedic trauma and sports medicine. He is actively involved in all types of research including basic science and clinical.
His most recent international project is both a retrospective and prospective analysis of CrossFit® injuries in Costa Rica. He also is actively researching injuries in the National Football League. He enjoys performing research to help innovate patient care and improve the patient care experience. He is active in product design and surgical innovations.
