Educating Future Leaders

At the Center for Engineering in Medicine & Surgery (CEMS), research and education are tightly interwoven. Young physician-scientists and engineers who wish to devote their careers to developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches find rich educational opportunities while conducting research at the CEMS under the direct supervision of our outstanding faculty.

Postdoctoral Fellows Program

A major portion of the mission and history of the CEMS involves the training of MDs and PhDs in the fundamentals of biomedical science and engineering.

Predoctoral Fellows Program

Predoctoral fellows from a variety of PhD programs at Harvard and MIT have completed their PhD dissertations at the CEMS.

Summer Internship

The CEMS summer internship gives talented undergraduate and medical school students a chance to perform advanced research while furthering their education.

CEMS also conducts the Biological Science and Engineering Seminar Series and is involved in coursework at the Harvard/MIT Health Sciences and Technology program.
