About Robert Goldstone, MD

Dr. Robert Goldstone is board-certified in general surgery and completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and subsequently his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Dr. Goldstone specializes in treating benign and malignant colorectal pathology, including inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, rectal prolapse, and colon and rectal cancer. His clinical expertise is in minimally invasive surgery techniques including laparoscopic and robotic techniques, as well as organ-preserving surgery including transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) and transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS). His clinical interests also focus on the treatment of perianal disease including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, anal dysplasia and condyloma.

In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Goldstone completed a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship and earned an American College of Surgeons Resident Research Scholarship to further his surgical research. He has published on the treatment of colorectal disease in academic research journals. His research interests involve the clinical outcomes of surgical therapy for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Goldstone serves on the Massachusetts General Hospital Surgical Council on Resident Education.
