Although historically considered a “man’s disease,” heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women alike. In this recent Massachusetts General Hospital Blum Center presentation, Michael Honigberg, MD, of the Corrigan Women's Heart Health Program at the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center, reviews the epidemiology of heart disease in women, differences in heart disease between women and men, unique sex-specific risk factors for heart disease in women and special considerations for promoting female heart health.
