What drew you to your specialty? I came to acupuncture through my training in martial arts and qigong, which opened my eyes to a more holistic way of thinking about the body and health. My own experiences with acupuncture, along with kung fu and qigong, improved my health and wellbeing and inspired me to bring this kind of healing to others.

What is your favorite part of your job? Connecting with people around their health concerns brings a sense of common humanity that is very powerful. I feel honored to have these moments of connection with my patients, to hear their stories, and to help in whatever way I can. I also feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful team of clinicians and therapists.

What would you like to tell patients and their families about integrative therapies and your specialty? Acupuncture taps into the body’s own desire and propensity to heal. Most patients report that is painless and that the main side effect is a greater feeling of calm. Our hope as acupuncturists is to be part of your care team helping to improve your quality of life, whether that means addressing physical symptoms such as nausea and hot flashes or the anxiety that can accompany the experience.
