Outright Gifts

Making an outright gift to Mass General for Children (MGfC) allows your donation to be put directly to use for pediatric patients and their families. A cash gift is the most common and convenient method of donating to MGfC. It’s easy to make a secure donation online, or, if you prefer to donate by check, please make your check payable to The Massachusetts General Hospital and mail it to:

Mass General for Children

You may also choose to make an outright gift through a donation of appreciated securities, closely held stock or another financial vehicle. If you would like to learn more about these and other alternative giving options, please call or write to:

Planned Giving and Bequests

MGfC offers donors a number of options for making a considerable gift to the hospital that also offers the donor significant benefits. If you are interested in making this type of donation, you may wish to make a planned gift by:

  • Remembering MGfC in your will
  • Establishing a charitable remainder trust or gift annuity, which will enable you to receive an income throughout the duration of your life and / or the life of your beneficiary
  • Naming MGfC as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy
  • Donating personal property such as stocks, bonds or real estate to the hospital

Endowed Funds

You may also support MGfC by creating an endowed fund, forging a permanent bond between yourself and the hospital. Endowed funds are carefully managed for growth and are preserved forever. They provide crucial annual income to an area of the hospital selected by the donor, whose gift forms a legacy that will protect the mission of MGfC and lend urgently needed support to caregivers in individual departments. Endowed funds may also serve as distinguished tributes to loved ones by bearing their names.

A minimum of $100,000 is required to establish an endowed fund.

To learn more about creating an endowed fund, please contact Ellen Heath Plapinger, Senior Director of Development, at the address above.

Special Events

Holding a special event is a unique way to raise money for MGfC. If you are interested in organizing a fundraising event to help pediatric patients, get started by visiting the Special Events page on the Mass General Development Office site.

A member of the hospital’s special events staff will be happy to contact you regarding your proposed event for MGfC.

Ways to Participate

Whether your goal is to educate and spread awareness of pediatric illnesses, to organize special events and raise much-needed funds, or to lend a listening ear and a comforting shoulder to patients and their families, MGfC welcomes your personal involvement. Learn more about getting involved.

Donate through Child Life

Supporting the children and families at MGfC can also be fulfilled through the Child Life Department Wish List. Your family, child or company may be interested in donating gifts including toys, arts and crafts, or the like in honor of a birthday, holiday or other special event. The Child Life specialists have created a Wish List to meet the needs of the children and families in both the inpatient and the outpatient settings of the hospital. Learn more.
