Dr. Markella Zanni is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She serves as Director of Women's Health Research in the Metabolism Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Zanni received her A.B. from Harvard College and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. She leads a clinical-translational research program focused on elucidating mechanisms of cardiometabolic diseases, particularly in women. Her original research has been funded through multiple grants, with findings published in scientific journals across disciplines. Dr. Zanni has been named a Claflin Distinguished Scholar at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is also the recipient of the Stephen Calderwood Excellence in Mentoring Award from the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Medicine, the Award for Excellence in Research Mentoring from the Massachusetts General Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program, and a Research Mentoring Award from the Boston Area Nutrition Obesity Research Center.
