About Helen Burton-Murray, PhD

Helen Burton-Murray, PhD is a psychologist and the Director of the Gastrointestinal (GI) Behavioral Health Program in the MGH Center for Neurointestinal Health. She is an Assistant Professor in Medicine and of Psychology (Psychiatry) at Harvard Medical School (HMS). 

Dr. Burton-Murray's clinical research program focuses on behavioral and physiologic mechanisms of chronic GI pain disorders that do not have a known structural cause, called disorders of gut-brain interaction. Her recent work has focused on functional dyspepsia and gastroparesis, including the development of behavioral treatments.

Dr. Burton-Murray's work has been supported by the NIDDK, the American Neurogastroenterology & Motility Society, and other funding agencies. She has published over 115 papers and chapters, as well as a book on behavioral treatment for rumination syndrome.
