The Global Health Innovation Laboratory is proud to conduct a Harvard Summer School Study Abroad program in Kisumu, Kenya. “Innovating for Health Transformation in Africa” trains students in the application of innovative technologies to produce sustainable health care improvements. Teams of students develop, implement, and test a strategy to address a specific healthcare problem. The course integrates guest lectures, field work, student presentations, and guided discussions to give students a deep understanding of the development and integration of new health technologies. Past projects have included research on distribution and effectiveness of fortified foods, development of an apparatus to facilitate healing from male circumcision, and the creation of an educational children’s book about malaria.
