The adult primary care physicians at MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center work with patients to coordinate all of their health care needs, from routine physical exams to the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical problems, as well as referrals to specialists. Our primary care physicians also provide information about preventative medicine and wellness programs available through the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center. We have two locations:


Pediatric and Adolescent Primary Care

Our pediatricians at MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center provide complete care for your child, including regular check-ups, immunizations, health screenings, developmental monitoring and urgent care visits. For teenagers, we offer services that are sensitive to their needs, including gynecological exams, nutrition counseling, and diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. On-call Physician Coverage

We provide on-call physician coverage for all our patients, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call the practice to reach the on-call physician. Patients with medical emergencies should call 911.


Urgent Care

Our Urgent Care department is staffed with physicians and registered nurses able to provide care to all age groups. No appointment is necessary and we accept both Mass General patients and those who are not patients. The staff offers a wide range of medical and minor surgical services. It is not an emergency room. Patients who need further evaluation may be referred to one of our specialty departments or to a local emergency department. Behavioral Health

Our behavioral health staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers who offer confidential counseling to individuals and families to help address behavioral, emotional and substance abuse problems. Our providers can also help patients access community resources. Contact us at 617-889-8515. To request an appointment, patients need a referral from their primary care provider or a specialist.


Obstetrics and Gynecology

Doctors, nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners, who are specialists in both obstetrics and gynecology, provide women with complete gynecological care from adolescent years onward. Pregnant women can receive all their prenatal care at MGH Chelsea and then deliver at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, which has neonatal specialists and a neonatal intensive care nursery if needed. Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mass General Chelsea offers a full range of consultative services with the convenience of patient-centered care delivered closer to home. Our providers’ recommendations are shared seamlessly across the entire Mass General Brigham network.

Infectious Disease

We provide comprehensive care for patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection or hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The patient care team offers state-of-the-art care in a community setting for patients with HCV or HBV infection. Treatment focuses on all aspects of patient care related to hepatitis management. Imaging (X-ray) & Ultrasound

MGH Chelsea Health Center Imaging offers routine x-rays and ultrasound. Each exam is read by a radiologist specializing in the affected area. Because our radiologists focus on specific areas of the body, they are experts in spotting even the most subtle conditions on an exam. Contact us at 617-889-8510.


Laboratory

We offer an on-site laboratory and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) for our patients. Patients calling about lab results should contact their primary care provider.


Living Tobacco-Free

MGH Community Health Associates’ Living Tobacco-Free program helps people quit cigarettes and other forms of tobacco. Trained coaches work one-on-one with people who are thinking about quitting tobacco to help them create an individualized plan for quitting. Coaches coordinate with a person’s medical providers and will make referrals to other helpful resources. Living Tobacco-Free's services are free to everyone, without any co-pay. Pulmonary

The MGH Chelsea pulmonary clinic provides care to patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other pulmonary diseases, and provides spirometry testing on-site. Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)/Genitourinary Infectious Disease (GID) Clinic

The STD/GID Clinic provides screening and treatment of STDs, testing for HIV and hepatitis C, as well as counseling on preventing HIV infection. Services are provided in a confidential setting by a professional staff trained in the area of sexually transmitted infections. The clinic accepts walk-ins and scheduled appointments; hours are Thursday 3:00-5:30pm. Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program

Our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling, healthy food benefits on an electronic card and other local resources to income eligible prenatal/post-partum women, infants and children up to age five. We have free breastfeeding education classes facilitated by a certified lactation counselor. Fathers, guardians and foster parents are also welcome to apply for WIC services for children in their care. We help measure the growth of your baby and children to help them stay healthy.
