To complement the hospital-wide resources from the Mass General Center for Faculty Development, the Department of Neurology supports faculty career development in several different ways, including formal mentorship programs and logistical help with both the Harvard Medical School and Clinician-Educator promotion processes.

Harvard Medical School Promotion Process

The Neurology HMS Promotion Committee reviews candidates moving to Assistant Professor (local or regional reputation/recognition), Associate Professor (national or international reputation/recognition) or Professor (national or international leadership). The criteria for this review are described in the HMS Governance, Appointment and Promotion Handbook.

If you are interested in an Instructor appointment, please contact Laurie Ozelius.

Learn about the criteria and required materials for each promotion rank here (login required):
We recommend that faculty up for promotion consult the Harvard Faculty of Medicine CV Guidelines and send CVs for pre-submission review by HMS prior to formal submission. To request a review, write to OFA_Promotions@hms.harvard.edu.
