We Are Here, Open and Ready to Care for You!

As the volume of COVID-19 in Massachusetts rises and falls, we continue to work hard to take care of your health and provide all of our patients needed care while at the same time protecting the health and safety of our providers and staff who are, of course, central to your care.

Our best tool against COVID-19 is vaccination. If you have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine, we strongly urge you to do so as soon as possible to protect yourself, your family and your community. Vaccination is recommended for all patients including those that are pregnant and considering pregnancy.

In addition to vaccination, all patients and visitors to our outpatient sites and the hospital will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and asked to wear a mask throughout the visit.

We at Massachusetts General Hospital are very much open for business and doing our part to care for problems both related to and separate from COVID-19. We write to tell you how to reach out to us so we can best help you.

For Gynecologic Care

We are open across all our sites for all gynecologic care through both virtual and in-person visits. It is important not to delay routine health maintenance care as well as urgent visits. Please call our offices to speak with someone about your problems and questions.

  • Gynecology: (617) 724-6850
  • Urogynecology/Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery: (857) 238-8496
  • Gynecologic Oncology: (617) 724-4800

For Obstetric Care

We are as busy as ever providing prenatal and postpartum care in all of our offices and delivering babies on Blake 14 at Mass General. We have learned a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic about the many advantages of combining in-person with virtual visits during prenatal care and will continue to offer a combination of both types of visits during your prenatal journey. In all cases, we will be sure you have the care you need and that is right for your pregnancy and specific circumstances.

When it is time for delivery, we look forward to caring for you and your family in the hospital.

Key things to understand about your labor and delivery stay include:

  • All patients presenting for delivery are welcome to bring up to TWO support persons to be with them during their delivery. In line with current hospital policy and needs to protect the health of our staff and other patients, your visitors must be free from symptoms of COVID-19 or recent exposure
  • At Mass General we continue to support "rooming in" for all our patients, enabling our mothers to share space with their newborns. This includes those that may have known or suspected COVID-19 infections and is in line with latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • Also in line with CDC recommendations, we continue to support breastfeeding for all women and families who have chosen to feed this way

We understand that pregnancy is a time that brings many questions, and our current times have only added more. We are here to respond and have added staff to do so. Please just call us at 617-724-BABY (2229).

Please view our updated list of frequently asked pregnancy questions that may also answer many things on your mind.

These are extraordinary times, but in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mass General we remain committed to providing extraordinary care. Please use the phone numbers above or your Patient Gateway account to let us know how and when we can best care for and help you.
