Orthopaedic Advanced Practitioners

Advanced Practitioners (also known as Advanced Practice Providers - APPs) include Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). These highly skilled, licensed professionals are an integral part of our department. NPs and PAs perform physical exams, order and interpret clinical tests, make diagnoses, educate and counsel patients and their families, develop treatment plans, and help patients and their families navigate the health care system. APPs work in tandem with Mass General doctors and surgeons as part of a coordinated care team, often assisting in the operating room and managing postsurgical care.

Inpatient advanced practitioners function as responding clinicians, responsible for the care of the orthopaedic patient population in the inpatient setting. They all have a primary service(s) (as listed below) but also cross-cover.
