About Ashley M. Newman, MD

Ashley M. Newman, MD, was raised in New Jersey along with her two younger sisters. She studied neuroscience and mathematics at New York University and spent a year after college working as a clinical research coordinator at Hospital for Special Surgery, where she cultivated an interest in clinical research in surgery.

Dr. Newman attended medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She then moved back to New Jersey to complete her general surgery residency at Rutgers University. During this time, she also completed a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she studied different facets of breast surgical oncology and further solidified a passion for breast surgery. Dr. Newman joins Massachusetts General Hospital as a breast surgical oncology fellow where she hopes to learn more about high risk patient populations, optimizing surgical treatment for breast cancer and multidisciplinary care.
